Lenny van Dyck
PhD Candidate
Hi, and welcome to my website!
I’m Lenny, a PhD candidate in Cognitive Computational Neuroscience at JLU Giessen, working with Katharina Dobs and Martin Hebart.
In my research, I investigate how the brain transforms sensory input into representations. I’m particularly fascinated by functionally selective areas that perform specialized computations to solve this complex task. With a foundation in cognitive neuroscience and a growing passion for machine learning, I combine neuroimaging and computational modeling to uncover how the brain makes sense of the world around us.
When not doing science, I like to travel the planet in a campervan.
News
| Feb, 2026 | Happy to share a new preprint with Katharina Dobs! We show that face and body representations are partially integrated in DNNs and human visual cortex. Check out this thread for a quick summary. |

| Nov, 2025 | I really enjoyed writing a commentary with Katharina Dobs on a thought-provoking discussion article in Cognitive Neuroscience. |
| Aug, 2025 | CCN25 in Amsterdam was a lot of fun! I presented results from my second PhD project, where we tested how segregated or integrated face and body processing are in DNNs and visual cortex. Check out our short paper or the poster for a quick overview. |
| Jun, 2025 | Excited to share our new preprint with Martin Hebart and Katharina Dobs! We show that category-selective areas encode a rich, multidimensional feature space. Check out this thread for a quick summary. |
| May, 2025 | At CAOs in Rovereto, I presented initial results of an exciting new project investigating face and body selectivity in DNNs and visual cortex. |
